Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by laying on hands and is based on the same idea as in acupuncture that life force energy, or chi, flows through the body. If one's chi energy is low, then sickness or stress are more likely to be felt. If it is high, the body is more capable of being happy and healthy. A treatment usually feels like a dream like state or a radiance that flows through and around the person and produces a deep state of relaxation.
Although the exact mechanism for how Reiki works is unknown, some studies have shown that the brain waves of someone receiving reiki tend to shift into theta and alpha waves which is where the most healing occurs in the body, and it is believed that this is how the modality can prompt spontaneous healing responses. In addition, scientists have discovered that all tissues and organs produce specific magnetic pulsations, which have come to be known as biomagnetic fields- historically what has been known as the aura. Christa learned in her Reiki training how to feel the subtle movements of the body's energy and address imbalances within it, and has found in her muscle testing sessions that it will of ten times wake up muscles when manual therapy is not prompting a response.
Reiki is wonderful for pain management, migraines, restless leg syndrome, fibromyalgia, emotional blockages, and many other ailments. Sessions can be just as effective with the pracitioner's hands above the body for those who desire a therapeutic session but prefer not to be touched.
Sessions are done fully clothed. Please wear comfortable clothing.
Classes are currently on hold. Please contact Christa if you're interested in future classes.
Level 1 - $150
Level 2 - $150
For those who have taken Reiki 1 & 2 with another teacher and want to retake it or learn a different perspective, Reiki 2 is offered as a donation based class when there is extra room.
If you are interested in 3rd Degree or Master/Teacher Level, Christa teaches it as a one day class followed by a year of mentoring. Students should expect to make a commitment to learning and practicing. Christa is not currently taking on students at this level but she is open to discussing the possibility.
