KINESIOLOGY AND NEUROLOGICAL MODALITIES

Every session with Christa looks a different depending on the symptoms and complaints of the clients, but the goal is to increase function, reduce pain and to to make a long term change. She uses several different modalities which utilize manual muscle testing to gather information about what is happening in the body. Manual muscle testing comes from kinesiology based approaches to healing, and involves the client moving as the practitioner puts counter pressure on the limb to check for proper responses. For example, to check the shoulder, the client may lift their arm as the practitioner presses lightly down. This lets us know if the muscle is strong, weak, causing pain, or otherwise, and then we can narrow down the problem.

Manual Muscle Testing

Proprioceptive - Deep Tendon Reflex

P-DTR works with sensory receptors (such as those for touch, pressure, hot, cold, pain, etc.), and the way the body processes the information the receptors send to the brain, which the effects motor control output.

Most therapies for the body rely exclusively on addressing the “hardware” such muscles being tight, neglecting the fact that much of the pain and dysfunction we experience is often actually a problem with our “software,” or what the brain is telling the muscles to do. To use an analogy, if your computer has a virus, changing the monitor or keyboard will not solve the problem. Removing the files that contain the virus is the solution. Using manual muscle testing, sensory challenges and reflexes, the involved receptors in the body causing the "software" problem can be located so that normal function is restored.

NeuroKinetic Therapy

NKT is a neurological approach toward healing. It s a corrective movement system that utilizes muscle testing to change the output of information from the Motor Control Center (MCC) in the brain, which directs all movement within the body. Accidents and repetitive movement patterns cause the MCC  to create compensatory patterns to avoid reinjury or pain- however, these patterns are inefficient and frequently cause more things to go out of balance. The body will sometimes continue to create compensation after compensation, even after the initial injury was healed. These improper movement patterns have the potential to continue indefinitely unless the MCC is reprogrammed and taught the proper way to move again. NKT® intervenes in this cycle, unwinding what muscles are over and underworking, and helps to restore normal movement.

Changing Movement Patterns

Amino Neuro Frequency

ANF Therapy consists of the application of thin circular discs that hold a frequency for 72 hours directly onto the skin. During this therapy, these neuro-frequencies are transmitted through the neurons in the body. The human body contains between 5-15 million different chemical and electrical signals in the nerve pathways. Through nervous system signalization, ANF Therapy helps the body normalize healing responses by returning the “correction signals” to unhealed areas. The therapy encourages the body to function properly and has been shown to reduce pain and inflammation, even in chronic cases.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN A SESSION

Sessions are done clothed as they involve a lot of movement for evaluation and to check muscle testing corrections. Please wear comfortable, fairly form fitting clothing that you can move around in. Gym shorts, leggings, and t-shirts or tank tops are preferred. If female, please wear a sports bra that does not cover much of the spine.

It is ideal to come weekly until symptoms are not reappearing, and this progress is different for everyone. Generally sessions start with clearing out neurological chaos from old injuries using P-DTR and ANF discs when necessary, and then move into what can be done functionally as far as soft tissue work and stretches and other self care that the client can do at home to and aid in healing and prevent symptoms from returning.
